I really like the club vibe that the song has. I also like the kick. But that's about it when it comes to what I like about this song.

This song just has too many unfitting sounds in it. The one that stands out the most is that high pitched"hopping" sound. Also, the main techno sound in this song kind of sounds like a bad soundtrack from an old SNES game.

Your transitioning could also use some work. I just didn't think that using a couple of seconds of silence was a good form of transitioning in this song. It just didn't sound right.

This song started off promising, but then everything I listed above happened. It needs a lot of work, but it's definitely not terrible. Just keep on improving!

Finally, the first time I've received a comment that would help me improve on music :D
I'll note your comment since it's really helpful, thank you very much ^_^

I wasn't expecting this song to be so catchy! It's great! I definitely get an 80's vibe from it too, so you hit that spot on!

A couple of things I'd like to point out are that when the techno kicks in at 0:13 it sounds a bit too loud.

The drums should also be a bit louder.

Thanks Mate!

I know in the Review Request Club you said that maybe someday you'll make something that doesn't sound like a video game, but why stop at what you're good at? Your songs do sound like they could be used in a video game, but that's a good thing!

Anyways, about this song, it's pretty good. I especially like 1:20 to 1:30.

One thing I wish you did, though, was change the kick for a little bit somewhere in the song. It eventually gets kind of annoying to listen to.

Kalviter responds:

Thanks for the feedback! I just mentioned the video game thing because it's unintentional. I've never actually set out to make a video game song, it just kinda happens, so I was saying maybe one day I won't step back from a project and immediately think "Oh, it happened again." I'm glad you like it anyway though, and I get the thing about the kick, it's fairly constant, some variety would help it.

This was definitely named appropriately, haha. The African theme of this song is a nice change of pace from what I usually hear on Newgrounds.

I especially love the drums and the trumpet (I think?). The trumpet or whatever it is, is what gives it it's terrific upbeat sound.

With all of the instruments you used, I can really see an orchestra playing this song. It sounds THAT professional and well done.

Another reason I love this song is because it reminds me of the The Lion King, which holds a special place in my heart. Another example of how professional this song sounds.

I've never heard something quite like this on Newgrounds. It's too good for Newgrounds, if you ask me. It's absolutely amazing.

EagleGuard responds:

Glad the name was appropriate in this case, haha! No trumpets in here, I'm afraid, though what you're referring to are probably either the string sections, or the french horns that appear later on.

The Lion King might very well have been a subconscious inspiration for this piece, to be honest. In a way, it also reminds of the Civilization IV theme.

Anyway, many thanks for your very flattering compliments!

It's a little short, but it's a pretty great dubstep track!

You change it up at the most appropriate times, which is awesome. Your transitioning here is perfect.

All of the different sounds go well with each other.

Great work!

Thanks You!!!

I really like how it starts off really soft and then progresses into a more intense song, but then becomes soft again at the end.

It kind of captures the emotional rollercoaster that is war. Like, it's sad in the beginning that a country has to go to war. Then when the song gets more intense, it's like a war with all of the battling. Finally, when it gets soft again at the end of the song, it's capturing the sadness of the lives that were lost.

It's a really nice song. The only thing I don't like is that drop that happens a couple of times in the song, like at 2:01 and 2:35.

MysteriousPresence responds:

Thanks for the review !
I'm glad you get the structure of the song because this was an important point to me when I was composing it ! That's like exactly what I was thinking about ! =3
I actually love that drop but that's a matter of taste I guess ! X)
Thanks again, and glad you liked it ! =)

It has a really nice blend of chill and slightly eerie. Also, the beat fits the song perfectly.

A little touch that you put in that I really liked was the sound that first happens at 1:20. It sounds like an electric guitar, but it also kind of sounds like it could be a techno sound. I can't be 100% sure, but whatever it is, it's a pretty cool sound that I'm glad you put into this song a few times. It blends in very well.

Stereocrisis responds:

Thank you for keeping your promise to check out my recent stuff. It is an electric guitar, BTW. :D

It has a fantastic buildup. The beginning of the song has a very ambient sound. Then more sounds get added to take it up a notch, but it still keeps that chill vibe, which is awesome.

Secondly, the bass drops at 1:58 and 2:28 don't suit the song very well. I can tell you used them as a sign of transitioning, but it just doesn't fit. I'd replace it with something else entirely.

This is a great song for the most part! Keep up the good work!

demon1000 responds:

Thanks man i will see what i can do!

First of all, the kick that comes in at 0:19 overpowers the techno. It's a little too loud. Then even worse, the kick and the techno do not sync with each other whatsoever.

The song started to improve at 0:50, which was good. At 1:06 is when it got a lot better. The kick and the techno sound there sounded very well together.

The two other change ups in the rest of the song were pretty good, so nice job. The voice from Portal 2 was a pretty cool touch and blended in well with the song.

A suggestion I'd like to throw out there is to erase some of the song before the Portal 2 voice kicks in for the first time. 0:19 to 0:41 with the out of sync beat and techno is just bad and the rest of the song would be better without it. Besides that, you did a pretty good job.

Keep improving!

WarriorTrone responds:

Thanks for the review! I will have a look at that and see if I maybe remake it? I dunno I think I will just remove the drums. Oh and the drums. I did have some problems making this, everything was getting loud, everything was getting low so that must of made the drums loud. I think I might delete the 19 to 40 drums.

Thanks for telling me :)

The bells are very peaceful sounding and go well with the soft beat and the other soft sounds.

I like how you didn't go crazy with the beat and went with a soft sounding beat to match the calm vibe of the song. I also like how you kept a nice, smooth rhythm throughout the song without majorly changing it up when the song transitioned.

Finally, I like how you made the instruments a little quieter sounding than a normal pitch to match the soft tone of the song.

Very nice work!

demon1000 responds:

Thank you man for the review!

You can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning.
